  secretary n. 紧张的;look up from one’s desk(动词短语)从桌案上抬起头来;enter vt.进入;afford vt.支付得起;in a weak voice 声音很低地;interrupt vt.打断;receive vt.收到;extra adj.额外的

  Part II:

1:The secretary told me that Mr. Harmsworth would see me.(从told me来看,see我是将来的事情,也就是从过去看将来,自然要用过去将来时)

示例2:Then he smiled and told me I would receive an extra thousand pounds a year!(先told,再收到钱,所以,相对于told来讲,receive就是将来的事情,故用过去将来时)

1:The secretary told me that Mr. Harmsworth would see me.(划线部分就是told me的主要内容,本身就是一个句子,所以是宾语从句)

示例2:He said that business was very bad.(划线部分是said的内容)

示例3:He told me that the firm could not afford to pay such large salaries.(划线部分作为一个句子,是told me的具体内容)

示例4:I knew that my turn had come.(knew的内容就是划线部分)

示例5:Then he told me that I would receive an extra thousand pounds a year.(told me的具体内容就是划线的句子)

1:I felt very nervous when I entered.(由when引导)

示例2:After I had sat down, he said that business was very bad.(由after引导)

  Part III:

The secretary told me that Mr. Harmsworth (1) see me. I (2 feel) very nervous (3) I went (4) his office. He did not even look (5) (6) his desk (7) I entered. (8) I (9) sat down, he said (10) business was very bad. He (11 tell) me (12) the firm (13 can) not afford (14) pay such large salaries (15) (16) twenty people (17) already (18 leave). I (19 know) (20) my turn (21) come. ‘Mr. Harmsworth,’ I said (22) a weak voice. ‘Don’t interrupt,’ he said. Then he smiled (23) told me I (24) receive (25) extra thousand pounds a year.

  (1) would; (2) felt; (3) when; (4) into; (5) up; (6) from; (7) when; (8) After; (9) had; (10) that; (11) told; (12) that; (13) could; (14) to; (15) and; (16) that; (17) had; (18) left; (19) knew; (20) that; (21) had; (22) in; (23) and; (24) would; (25) an
